A method and an apparatus for measuring a blood pressure are provided to secure accuracy in measuring the blood pressure by determining whether a current pulse rate is stable or not. A method for measuring a blood pressure includes the steps of: supplying a sensing unit for sensing user's pulse(S11); counting a pulse rate at predetermined time intervals by using a counting unit for counting the pulse rate(S12); determining whether a state of the pulse rate is stable by using a determination device for generating an operation signal(S13); and controlling an apparatus for measuring the blood pressure based on the operation signal(S14).
