In a heat-exchanger comprising a plurality of tubes 1 passing through a tube plate 2, each tube carries a bush 4 in way of the plate and having longitudinal play relative to the plate and being fixed to the tube by a sleeve 3 having a wedging action. As shown, the bush and sleeve have co-operating tapered surfaces, the bush having a flange 5 and being secured to the sleeve by welding 6; welds 7 prevent the bush being pushed from the plate. The sleeve may be split longitudinally or be in at least two parts, and have, as well as the bush, lugs 8, 9 which are bent outwardly and replace the welds 6, 7. In a modification, the sleeve and bush are held together by screw-threads at least one of which is tapered.</p> |
