An image forming apparatus is provided to reach a fixing temperature at a heating unit quickly by transferring heat to a visible image on paper by using both an indirect heating member using radiation heat and a direct heating member using resistance heat. A heating unit(60) includes an indirect heating member(62) for indirectly transferring heat to a visible image formed on paper that passes through a fixing nip and a direct heating member(65) for directly transferring heat to the visible image. The indirect heating member is a heating member that generates radiation heat. The direct heating member includes a resistance heating member(67) that generates resistance heat by applied power, and an insulator(68) stacked on the resistance heating member and allows power to be stably applied to the resistance heating member. The resistance heating member is made of a ceramic material such as ZnO, ITO or SnO2 or CNT(Carbon Nano Tube) or a transmissive material polythiophene-based conductive polymer, allowing the radiation heat generated from the indirect heating member to transmit therethrough.
