A normal monoolefine is produced by treating H2 and a hydrocarbon stream containing a normal paraffin hydrocarbon with 6-20 C in a dehydrogenation zone with a catalyst which includes a Pt-metal component, an alkali metal and an alumina component. The catalyst being in finely-divided form with a maximum particle dimension of is not >0.84 mm. or dehydrogenation being at is approx. 399 degrees-593 degrees C and the mixture leaving the dehydrogenation zone, which contains the resultant monoolefine having the same No of C atoms as the paraffinic hydrocarbon is recovered. |
