An automotive exhaust system (1) has a housing (2) with an exhaust gas filtration unit (3). The filtration unit has an open-ended insert housing (4) with a filter (5). The exhaust system housing (2) has an insert-holder (6, 7) with an aperture (8) whose open end (9) supports one end (10) of the inserted housing (4). The open end (9) and housing end (10) are complementary concentric shells.
