An air conditioning installation has a refrigerant medium circulation in which at least one compressor (3) and at least one heat exchanger (1) are arranged, and in which a refrigerant flows as well as a refrigerant carrier medium-circulation (11), in which at least one pump and at least one heat exchanger and one cold store (13) are arranged. A heat exchanger (1) is provided in which heat exchange takes place between the refrigerant carrier medium and the refrigerant. An independent claim is included for a method of operating an air conditioning installation.
