A method for controlling an output signal level automatically according to a surrounding noise level in a voice communication apparatus, and the voice communication apparatus therefor are provided to control a speech tone necessary for reception automatically by using information about a surrounding noise detected from a signal which is inputted from a microphone, thereby enabling a mobile communication subscriber to make a voice call conveniently even when there is a great surrounding noise. A method for controlling an output signal level automatically according to a surrounding noise level in a voice communication apparatus comprises the following steps of: enabling a noise remover to set a reference current value from a voice signal inputted through a microphone and transmit the set reference current value to an output signal level controller(S401); enabling the output signal level controller to determine a noise signal level based on the reference current value and determine an output signal level corresponding to the noise signal level by using the mapping table of the noise signal level and the output signal level(S402,S403); and enabling the output signal level controller to increase the decoded signal up to the determined output signal level and output the decoded signal to a speaker if the received voice signal is decoded(S406-1,S406-2,S407).
