<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronically controlled speed change device of such a type as to drive a shift shaft by one drive motor, capable of reducing transmission shock during continuous running without complicating the structure. <P>SOLUTION: The speed change device 1 transmits power of an engine 29. The speed change device 1 includes the shift shaft 70, an actuator 75, a transmission 38, and a control section 300. The actuator 75 rotates the shift shaft 70. The transmission 38 has a gearshift mechanism 3, a clutch mechanism 2, and a crankcase 35 for storing the gearshift mechanism 3 and the clutch mechanism 2 therein. The gearshift mechanism 3 operates in conjunction with the rotation of the shift shaft 70. The clutch mechanism 2 continues or interrupts transmission of power from the engine 29 to the gearshift mechanism 3 in conjunction with the rotation of the shift shaft 70.
