<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for fabricating a fan assembly 14 capable of reducing a load imposed on an engine mounting body by allowing sacrificial abrasion of a fan blade 28 made of a frangible material, and increasing a vibration range of a rotor 31, and of reducing possibility of further damage to a casing 32 by reducing the weight of the fan blade 28 and allowing reduction of unbalance. <P>SOLUTION: This fan assembly 14 includes: a rotor 31 including a plurality of rotor blades at least one of which is made of a frangible material; and the casing 32 extending in the circumferential direction around the rotor. The casing is arranged at a predetermined distance from the plurality of rotor blades. The distance allows an amount of initial contact resistance created between the casing and the plurality of rotor blades after a bladeout to be increased.
