PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic fluid composition for a shock absorber, effective for compatibilizing the remarkable improvement in the driving performance relating to straight-motion and vibration control and a stick-slip prevention at a high level, and especially excellent in the above performance in the case of applying to a shock absorber of a front fork of a motor bicycle. SOLUTION: The hydraulic fluid composition for a shock absorber contains a lubricating base oil containing an alkylnaphthalene (A) having a kinematic viscosity of 20-50 mm<SP>2</SP>/s at 40°C and one or more base oils selected from a naphthenic mineral oil and a synthetic base oil except for the oil (A).
