PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recognition device which can lessen frequencies of erroneous recognition. SOLUTION: The image recognition device comprises a camera 12, and a target recognition device 10 which executes pattern matching for an image captured by the camera 12 by using a template and recognizes whether or not it is a target to be recognized concerning the template. The target recognition device 10 executes pattern matching with various templates, and recognizes as the target to be recognized concerning at least one of the templates when determined that the pattern of the image is coincided with one of the templates and the overlapped degree between the image and template is beyond a threshold value. Thus, recognition precision is improved rather than the pattern matching with one kind of template, and the frequencies of erroneous recognition can be lessened. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
