PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document management system allowing reduction of burdens of work on a user by making it possible to determine a document attribute from a registration sheet. SOLUTION: In this document management system, the registration sheet recording document storage destination information according to the document attribute recorded in a document management server is printed, and paper documents including the registration sheet are scanned to prepare an electronized image document. Next, after the registration sheet is extracted from the image document, OCR (Optical Character Reader) processing is performed, and decision processing of the document attribute is performed by use of a result thereof. Arrangement processing for arranging appearance of the image document in each page is performed correspondingly to the document attribute, and the image document is divided and is recorded in a prescribed place of the document management server.
