PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document conveying device and an image reading device capable of preventing occurrence of blind stamping due to positional misalignment of a printing means. SOLUTION: This document conveying device A for conveying a document to document reading positions 5, 6 along a predetermined conveyance path 12 from a document loading position T is provided with the printing means 8 being movable along the direction of document width crossing the direction for conveying document substantially orthogonally for predetermined printing on the document and a detection means S4 provided in the conveyance path on the upstream side in the conveying direction of the printing means 8 to detect whether the document to be conveyed passes through a scope of printing region by the printing means 8 or not.
