PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gripping device capable of folding an expansible tube in small folding width dimensions and easily carrying out folding work of the expansible tube and suitable for miniaturization. SOLUTION: This gripping device grips a work by pressure contact force of the expanded expansible tube 22 by; arranging the expansible tube 22 folded at two points on an outer peripheral surface of a body 21; respectively fixing both ends of the expansible tube 22 in a sealed state on the body 21; constituting an airtight space 26 covered with the expansible tube 22 on the outer peripheral surface of the body 21 and; expanding the expansible tube 22 by supplying air to the airtight space 26. The expansible tube 22 is formed of monofilament and of a rubber material in which a reinforcing cord of less than 0.2 mm in diameter is buried. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
