<p>An optical waveguide element comprises first and second optical waveguides (11, 12) formed such that waveguide lights of different polarization have different waveguide modes. The first optical waveguide (11) includes a directional coupling region (13). The second optical waveguide (12) has an incident side waveguide (12a) provided in parallel with the first optical waveguide (11) while including the directional coupling region (13), and an exit side waveguide (12b) extended from the incident side waveguide (12a) and bent in the direction receding from the first optical waveguide (11).</p> |
