PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion valve with a solenoid valve of low costs having a power element capable of dispensing with design in which withstand pressure is taken into consideration. SOLUTION: A valve seat to a valve element 25 of the expansion valve and a circular valve element 27 of a stop valve is composed of a piston 16 axially moved forward and backward, a high pressure introduction chamber 18 and a back pressure chamber 19 defined by the piston 16 are respectively connected to an intermediate chamber 20 through orifices 21, 22, and the intermediate chamber 20 is communicated to an expansion valve downstream side through a pilot valve hole 30 opened and closed by the solenoid valve 13. Thus when the electric power is not distributed to the solenoid valve 13, high pressure is introduced to the back pressure chamber 19 through the intermediate chamber 20, and the valve seal is pressed to the circular valve element 27 while separating the valve element 25 from a shaft 41. When the electric power is distributed to the solenoid valve 13, the intermediate chamber 20 is connected to low pressure, the valve seat is separated from the valve element 25, and the valve element 25 is brought into contact with the shaft to be placed under the control of the power element 12.
