<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conveying device and an image forming apparatus which are capable of increasing the drive force of a conveying member. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 10 has an intermediate transfer belt 14 conveying toner images formed by a plurality of image forming sections 16Y, 16M, 16C and 16B. The drive force is transmitted to the intermediate transfer belt 14 through a friction force, at two places of a position in contact with a main drive roll 41 and a position in contact with an auxiliary drive roll 42. The drive force transmitted to the intermediate transfer belt 14 by the main drive roll 41 is larger than that transmitted to the intermediate transfer belt 14 by the auxiliary drive roll 42.
