PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map information generation system that generates new road information relating to a new road to be added to map information stored in a navigation device etc. SOLUTION: Traveling locus information generated when vehicles serving as probe cars travel along paths that are not included in navigation map data 53 provided in a navigation device 4, is transmitted to a map distribution center 2 as probe data. Having received the traveling locus information from the navigation device 4 of each vehicle 3, the map distribution center 2 gathers together the received data, narrows down object data by excluding traveling locus information predictedly showing that the vehicle 3 is not traveling on a new road, and groups traveling locus information after the object data are narrowed down, for each piece of traveling locus information on the same road to generate new road information relating to a single new road for each group.
