A receiver in which time overhead in a transition from a quiescent state to an operation state can be alleviated and the power wasted on the overhead time can be reduced to improve communication performance by avoiding frequent starting of a host processor in the quiescent state. In the receiver, a communication interface circuit (101) extracts packet data from the received signal from a network. A communication interface control circuit (102) judges whether or not to receive the packet data and, when judging to receive it, issues an interrupt signal. A power supply circuit (106) supplies power. A host processor (107) executes a program including a reception processing when the interrupt signal is supplied. |
