The invention relates to a motor drive (40) for a leaf (12) of a window or door which is pivotable about at least one axis (14) from a closed position into an opened position. The motor drive (40) comprises a transfer element which is rigid to compression and/or tensile strain, and which is displaceable by a motor, and which engages on the free end thereof with the leaf (12) or frame (10) by means of a bearing bracket or console (43). In order to avoid damage to the transfer element (42) and/or to the motor drive (40) in the case of a blockage or manual operation failure of the leaf (12), and also to enable simple and cost-effective production, the invention provides that the connection of the transfer element (42) to the leaf (12) or frame (10) is a force-fit connection which can be released if a reference force is exceeded.
