The element (1) has a sealed wall whose internal space (E) encloses a combustible gas mixture, and a pyrotechnical initiator initiating combustion of the gas mixture so as to generate a sufficient temperature and pressure rise in the internal space of the wall to locally deform the wall. The mixture includes fuel gas, oxidizing gas i.e. oxygen, and inert gas, where the fuel gas is one among hydrogen and gaseous hydrocarbon selected from a group consisting of methane, propane and butane. The inert gas is selected from a group consisting of argon, helium and nitrogen. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle comprising a closed contour hollow body shell element.
