The method involves passing an axial end (31) of a rotary driving shaft (30) through a passage (56) of a drive assembly. The drive assembly is displaced to a temporary axial position with respect to the rotary driving shaft, in direction of another axial end (39) of the rotary driving shaft. The latter axial end is arranged opposite to the former axial end. The drive assembly is mounted on the rotary driving shaft and supported against a stop on the rotary driving shaft. An independent claim is also included for a starting device for a motor vehicle.
