Provided is a mite composition comprising: - a rearing population of a phytoseiid predatory mite species, - a factitious host population, - and a carrier for individuals of said populations, wherein the factitious host population comprises at least one species selected from the family of the Glyciphagidae, with the proviso that the phytoseiid predatory mite species is selected from a species other than Amblyseius swirskii.
