A method for rewarding the use by a customer of a credit facility accessed by means of an instrument held by the customer is disclosed. The instrument is associated with an electronic rewards points account of the customer and useable at points of sale and can be a card. The method comprises the steps of: receiving from the customer at least a portion of funds owed by the customer to a provider of the credit facility; and rewarding the customer by electronically adding rewards points to the electronic rewards points account, the rewards points having a value at least in part determined by the amount of funds received from the customer.
