Formulation of valproic acid (VPA) in fast and slow releasing components

Disclosed is a pharmaceutical formulation comprising: (i) a fast releasing component which comprises compartments, and (ii) a slow releasing component which comprises compartments wherein the compartments contain valproic acid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, and the slow and fast releasing components release the drug according to a release profile as described in the specification. Also described is a method of making the above formulation, and its use in treating diseases described in the specification, such as cancers.
