IMPACT ABSORBING DEVICE FOR STEERING COLUMN

PURPOSE: A shock absorber for a steering column is provided to safely protect a driver and reduce repulsion impact which is applied to the driver by the proper transformation of a shock absorbing part. CONSTITUTION: A shock absorber for a steering column is constituted as follows. The upper part of the steering column(1) is jointed to a vehicle body by an upper mounting bracket(2) which is transformed and is separated from a steering column in case impact is applied on the upper part of the steering column. The lower part of the steering column is jointed to the vehicle body by a lower mounting plate(4). The upper mounting bracket is joined to the steering column by mounting clips.
