The strike plate (10) has a hollow part (22) for receiving a latch (12) of a locking device (8) in a displacement position, where the part is formed by a stop surface (24). An extension (26) forms a stop surface (28) above the hollow part, where the surface is parallel to the stop surface (24). The stop surfaces have normal to opposite directions. The extension forms a stop for damping an impact of the latch against the surface (28) of the plate when a sliding side door is closed while the latch is in the displacement position. The extension is made of rigid material e.g. polypropylene. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a locking device of a sliding side door of a motor vehicle, comprising a latch (2) a motor vehicle, comprising a strike plate integrated to a lining of a door.
