A public wireless LAN accessible area collection system (1) includes a mobile terminal device (10) having GPS means (12), wireless LAN communication means (13), and data communication means (17) and a server (20) which has storage means (22) and accessible area map generation means (24) and performs data communication with the mobile terminal device (10). When the wireless LAN communication means (13) recognizes that the mobile terminal device (10) exists in the area in which the mobile terminal device can be connected to the public wireless LAN, it obtains access information in the area. The data communication means (17) transmits location information and access information to the server (20). The server (20) associates the location information with the access information that are received from the mobile terminal device (10) and stores them in the storage means (22). The accessible area map generation means (24) applies the location information about the area in which the mobile terminal device can be connected to the public wireless LAN to the map data according to the location information stored in the storage means (22).
