<p>PURPOSE: A printing apparatus and a method for detecting the origin or phase of a feed roller are provided to detect the accurate origin of the feed roller at low cost. CONSTITUTION: A printing apparatus comprises a drive unit, a count unit, a stopping unit, a detection unit, and a control unit. The drive unit activates a feed roller(36) for carrying a recording medium. The count unit counts the rotation quantity of the feed roller. The stopping unit stops the rotation of the feed roller at the predetermined rotation position. The detection unit detects the phase of the feed roller obtained based on the count value of the count unit. The control unit controls the drive unit cased on the detected phase.</p> |
