A light source and a backlight module are provided to simplify a manufacturing process of the light source by manufacturing the light source without adopting a high vacuum packaging technique. A light source includes a cathode structure(302a), an anode structure(304a), a fluorescent layer(306), and a low pressure gas layer(310). The cathode structure has a light transmission property and serves as a light emission surface. The anode structure has a light reflection property and is arranged to be opposed to the cathode structure. The fluorescent layer is arranged between the cathode and anode structures. The low pressure gas layer fills the gap between the cathode structure and the anode structure and guides the cathode, such that electrons are uniformly radiated. An average free path for electrons allows the electrons to directly collide on the fluorescent layer at a driving voltage, such that a desired beam is generated. |
