The sole (14) has a lasting insole (16) connected to an outsole (18) by a peripheral wall (24), where the sole is made of rubber material. Front and rear cavities (26, 28) are provided between the outsole and the insole. The front and rear cavities are defined on a side of the insole by elastically deformable front and rear covers (20, 22) cooperating with the peripheral wall. Strips (200, 220) respectively block the front and rear covers in position with respect to edges of the front and rear cavities. An independent claim is also included for a method for fabricating a shoe comprising an air cushion sole.
