[Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iv)] An electric lamp fitting comprises a tubular transparent or translucent shade of elliptical cross-section clamped between gasket provided end fittings rendering the lamp water and vapour proof. The gaskets may be plain or channelled and held in annular grooves 11 of the end fittings 7. One side portion of the shade may be provided or backed with a reflecting surface or with a reflecting guard mounted on bracing rods 8 passing through lugs 10 on the end fittings 7. To vary the direction of the light emitted the shade may be rotatably mounted about pivots 16 on end cap junction boxes 13 housing the lampbulb sockets and connected by tubes 18 and further junction boxes (not shown) to a horizontal tubular support housing the electric leads from the mains. Cooling air for the shade may be supplied through the said tubes. |
