SERVICE METHOD FOR DISPLAYING POPULARITY CONTENTS IN INTERNET PROTOCOL TELEVISION SERVICE AND SET-TOP BOX FOR MATERIALIZING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A method for offering a service which displays popular contents in an IPTV service and a set-top box for realizing the same are provided to enhance user's convenience by reducing the number of times a user moves between menus to find out desired contents. CONSTITUTION: A set-top box for displaying popular contents in an IPTV service comprises an input signal receiver, a storage, a controller and an output unit. The input signal receiver receives an input signal corresponding to a key input(602). The storage stores popular contents category information of one or more colors and contents information corresponding to each category. The controller confirms the color of an inputted color button when a predetermined color button input signal is received, and then confirms popular contents of a category corresponding to the color(604-606).
