A building panel, possibly a floor panel, comprising a substantially laminar core 7, defining top and bottom surfaces and a peripheral edge and upper 3 and lower coverings of a rigid sheet material, the upper and lower coverings being disposed such that they meet at the peripheral edge, wherein an edge region of one of the coverings overlaps an edge region of the other 25, and wherein in the region of the overlap a seam (27, fig.3a) is formed, which comprises corresponding deformations 29, 31 of the rigid sheet material in the respective coverings, the respective deformations of the upper and lower coverings engaging so as to provide a resistance to shear between the layers of the covering at the overlap. A method of, and apparatus for, manufacture are also disclosed. |
