PURPOSE: An ultrasound system for forming an elastic image and a method thereof are provided to form an accurate elastic image by using a plurality of ultrasound images formed by an ECG(Electrocardiogram) signal provided in maximum contraction and relaxation of a heart. CONSTITUTION: An ultrasound system(100) includes a transceiving part(120), an image processing part(130,140), a synthesis image forming part(150), and an elastic image forming part(160). The transceiving part transmits an ultrasound beam to an object according to a plurality of scan lines. The transceiving part receives the ultrasound beam reflected from the object, and forms a first receiving signal and a second receiving signal. The transceiving part repeats transmission/reception of the ultrasound beam. The image processing part forms a first re-composition image, a second re-composition image, a first interpolation image, and a second interpolation image. The synthesis image forming part forms a synthesis image through the first re-composition image, the first interpolation image, the second re-composition image, and the second interpolation image. The elastic image forming part forms an elastic image through the synthesis image.
