PURPOSE: An ultrasound system for forming an elastic image and a method thereof are provided to form an elastic image of an object and to observe the nature of soil or lesion without insertion of a probe inside the object to be observed. CONSTITUTION: An ultrasound system(100) includes a transceiving part(120), an imgae processing part(130), and an elastic image forming part(140). The transceiving part transmits an ultrasound beam formed by an ultrasound signal of one group to an object. The transceiving part receives the ultrasound beam reflected from the object, and forms a receiving signal. The transceiving part repeats transmission/reception of the ultrasound beam, and forms a plurality of receiving signals. The image processing part forms a plurality of first ultrasound images through a plurality of receiving signals. The image processing part sets a plurality of radiation scan lines. The image processing part forms a second ultrasound image corresponding to the first ultrasound image through a plurality of radiation scan lines. The elastic image forming part forms an elastic image through a plurality of second ultrasound images.
