<p>The mechanical aeration device is intended for use in sewage disposal plants operating on the activated sludge process; the introduction of oxygen is necessary for effecting the biological purification. The aerators may either be mounted on floats and connected to a central pylon by articulated arms, or suspended from gantries which can pivot around the pylon. When used in comparatively shallow tanks, with a minimum depth 0.80 m., the stirring is so complete that the formation of a deposit for more than a short time is avoided.</p> |
