PURPOSE: A door opening and closing device for a vehicle and a control method thereof is provided to reduce development cost and improve the reliability of the door opening and closing device. CONSTITUTION: A door opening and closing device for a vehicle comprises a signal generator, a sensor part, and a controller. The signal generator(30) moves to a first point and a second point(P1,P2). The sensor part(70) senses a signal generator in the first and second points respectively and generates the first and second sensing signals. The controller(60) calculates the acceleration based on the first and second sensing signals and determines the operation of an actuator(80) compared with set-up acceleration. The sensor comprises a first sensor, and a second sensor. The first sensor(40) senses the signal generating part in the first point and outputs the first sensing signals. The second sensor(50) senses the signal generator in the second point and outputs the second sensing signal.
