<p>A dual clutch transmission comprises at least a first input shaft 6 carrying at least a first drive gearwheel 11 which meshes with a first driven gearwheel 18 mounted on a first output shaft 3 so as to establish a forward gear ratio. A second drive gearwheel 10 mounted on the first input shaft 6 drives, via a first intermediate gearwheel 15, a second driven gearwheel 16 which is carried by the first output shaft 3 and provides a reverse transmission ratio. The second driven gearwheel 16 meshes with a third driven gearwheel 23 on a second output shaft 2 and establishes a further forward gear ratio, e.g. first gear. The first intermediate gearwheel 15 may be rigidly fixed to a second intermediate gearwheel 14, 17 which may have a larger radius. Intermediate gearwheels 14, 15, 17 may be carried by a layshaft 5 or a third output shaft 4 and are locked to the shafts 5, 4 by a synchronizer 26.</p> |
