1305821 Scaling bars; handles ROCK TOOLS Inc 6 May 1970 [7 May 1969] 21859/70 Headings B4C and B4K [Also in Division F2] A scaling bar comprises an elongate tube, e.g. of aluminium, a coupling e.g. of steel fitted into engagement with one end of the tube, a scaling point the shank of which is releasably secured in the coupling, and a jacket of resinimpregnated fibre glass covering and bonded at least to the tube, As illustrated in Fig. 2 the tube 10 is in press fitted engagement with the coupling 11 and the jacket 12 extends over a portion of the coupling. The shank 13a of the scaling point 13 is releasably secured in the coupling by complementary screw threads in the coupling and on the shank. A lock nut 16 is also provided. A similar coupling is provided at the other end of the tube and may receive a further scaling point or a handle. In the embodiment of Fig. 3 each coupling has external grooves 29 into which the jacket can extend, has an end portion 22b received within one end of the tube 23, and has a recess 27 which receives the shank of the scaling point 24 or handle 25. The handle includes a loop 33. Two such bars may be connected together by connector 34 (Fig. 5). |
