The method involves determining transversal dynamic of a vehicle by sensors, and partially rolling a belt slack of a safety seat belt by using belt rollers when exceeding an upper threshold value of the transversal dynamic. Rolling of the safety seat belt is terminated when a lower threshold value of the transversal dynamic falls below a value. The upper threshold value and/or the lower threshold value is determined depending on speed of the vehicle. Transverse acceleration (ay) and/or steering wheel angular speed is determined as a measure of the transversal dynamic. An independent claim is also included for a device for fixing vehicle passengers in a vehicle.
