1,219,964. Electroluminescence. EASTMAN KODAK CO. 22 March, 1968 [24 March, 1967], No. 13864/68. Heading C4S. [Also in Divisions G2 and H5] A film identification means includes a lighttight cassette 22 of sandwich-like construction with metal outer plates 23, 24 and resilient sponge layers 25, 26, and containing a plugreceiving opening 20. A plug-like part or tongue 12 contains an illuminating means, which in this embodiment is an electroluminescent panel lamp 35, and a slot 38 adapted to receive a sheet 13 carrying identification information. Alternatively (Fig. 4) the illumination may be provided through an optical fibre system. At least the front surface of the tongue 12 is covered in a slippery transparent plastic and the leading tip surface (42) is tapered to deflect the film 28 toward the front surface of the tongue on insertion. The slot 20 is provided with several interlocking resilient light blocking flaps 44. In operation the tongue, which may be supported in a bracket, is inserted into the opening in the cassette to position the information card parallel to the film and between it and the light source which is then energized for a fixed period by means of a switch 47. Specification 1,219,963 is referred to. |
