The sensor (10) has a light source (12) i.e. LED, for emitting a light cone (18), where a material mixture (30) flows in an interaction zone (14), so that a target substance light of the light cone to be detected is absorbed based on a concentration of a target substance i.e. gas mixture. A detector (16) detects the absorption of the light cone dependent on the concentration. The interaction zone is limited by a light rectifier (15), where the light rectifier is provided as a solid body, which inwardly limits the interaction zone.
