[Class 38 (v)] In a snap-action thermal switch adapted to give increased pressure between the contacts up to the moment of breaking contact, the thermal element, which may be a' bellows c, acts on a spindle a having a double - ramp l engaged by a number of plungers k pressed inwards by a coil spring m which surrounds their outer ends and mounted in the movable contactmember j ; or alternatively the bellows may operate on the snap - action component and the spindle a operates the contacts. As shown the bellows c act against a spring e which can be adjusted by rotating a knob t. As the spindle a rises, the plungers k move outwards straining the spring m till the apex of the ramp is reached when the contact member j moves suddenly downwards bringing contacts n into engagement with fixed contacts o. |
