Gasket and method of its manufacture

The seal has a seal plate (10) with a fluid through-hole (12) between sealing surfaces of machine components and provided with a steel sheet layer. A surface coating with micro-sealing- and -sliding characteristics is provided on a main surface of the seal plate, where the main surface lies against one of the sealing surfaces. A bronze alloy from copper-zinc-base alloy is utilized as the surface coating, and is sintered on the steel sheet layer. The coating contains 6 weight percentage of graphite as a sliding material. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a flat seal.
