<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor excellent in temperature characteristic and resistance to splashed water, which can effectively reduce temperature fluctuation of a sensor element caused by penetration of measuring gas and water attachment thereto without impairing the responsiveness. <P>SOLUTION: The gas sensor 10A is provided with a protective cover 14. The protective cover includes an inside protective cover 16 which covers at least a top section of the sensor element 12, an outside protective cover 18 which covers the inside protective cover 16, and a middle protective cover 20 which is disposed between the inside protective cover 16 and the outside protective cover 18. The protective cover 14 satisfies the following equation: A1/A2≥1, wherein A1 is the total opening area of a plurality of inner gas inlet ports 22 provided in the inside protective cover 16, and A2 is the total opening area of a plurality of outside gas inlet ports 34 provided in the outer side protective cover 18. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
