The method involves determining a label (50) related to a data processing device (22), and generating two keys (52, 52'). One key is generated based on the label, and the other key is generated as a secret key. A decryption algorithm (54) provided for using the latter key is generated, and provided to the device. A rights object (40) permitting access to the data is encrypted using the keys. Data and the object are transmitted to the device. The object is decrypted by the device using the label and algorithm. The data is decrypted using a third key (48) comprising the decrypted object.
