The controller i.e. touch sensitive flat display (6), has an operating surface configured by user-specific configurable operating parameters e.g. microscope illumination brightness and resolution, of medical devices e.g. operation microscope (2) and phaco device (3), that are connected with the controller. A data memory is provided with a user admin and stores the operating parameters assigned by a user e.g. doctor. The data memory has a data import interface for importing the operating parameters and an input interface for inputting the operating parameters by the user. An independent claim is also included for a method for centrally controlling operating parameters of a set of medical devices.
