Ferro-nickel alloy is formed by thermal treatment in a magnetic field of a mixture containing 62-68% nickel and 1-7% (pref. 2.5-4.5%) of molybdenum (as in Fr. Pat. 1,474,570). The alloy is used in studies requiring materials with high initial and max. permeabilities. The molybdenum may be replaced, in part or totally, by another element, e.g. chromium or tungsten. The mixture is pref. treated at 1200 degrees C in an atmosphere of hydrogen before treatment in a magnetic field at a temp. below Curie point (pref. 400-440 degrees C). |
