The present invention discloses a method and corresponding device and system for sending messages. The method includes: an instant message server returns to an SMSC an SRI response which carries the instant message server's own address as an MSC address through a Signaling Interception System, converts a short message sent by the SMSC based on the SRI response into an instant message and delivers the instant message to an instant message client of a called user. The instant message server sends an SRI request to an HLR and converts the received instant message into the short message and delivers the short message to a mobile terminal of the called user based on the SRI response returned by the HLR. The corresponding device includes the instant message system and the Signaling Interception System. According to the present invention, the system may automatically perform the conversion between a short message and an instant message, thereby implementing convenient and fast interworking between short message and instant message.
